About

The Enlightened PIO is a site that looks into best practice work by public information officers that are trying to make research more effective in society through their actions.

I have been a public information officer in various capacities for universities and research societies around the world for 15 years. Most of what I have learned has been through the great fortune of having excellent mentors, or just through observing, analyzing, and experimenting myself.

Each short essay will address one lesson I have learned or should have learned. I suspect that many PIOs will disagree with some of the ideas here but I look forward to that disagreement as a way to hone the ideas.

You can read more about the site in the inaugural post.
